Designing information graphics and visualizations

I am currently working on section four of The Functional Art, the one called Profiles. It's a series of conversations with some of the people I admire the most in this business of explaining things by means of charts, maps, and diagrams. I have tried to find the right balance between traditional infographics designers and data visualizers, so you will find a lot of variety in those pages.

What all the interviews have in common is that they will give you deep insight on how those professionals (leaders in the field, really) work. As a sneak peek, I am sharing a few images sent by my friend Fernando Baptista, senior graphics artist at National Geographic Magazine. They are less than 10% of the material I have on how he developed his visual reconstruction of the Göbekli temple, in Turkey. See also a short video on that same project.
