Never try this at home, kids!
A while ago, I made the Introduction, chapter 1, and two interviews from The Functional Art available for free. Now, my publisher, PeachPit Press (owned by Pearson Education), has uploaded a good portion of chapter 4, which deals with the balance between decoration and functionality in infographics and visualization. I don't know if that chapter makes a lot of sense without reading chapters 2 and 3 first but, hey, it's for free, and you'll find out what the hideous graphic above is about.
