Inspiration and plagiarism

A recent case of inspiration/plagiarism —the line between the two in visualization is much blurrier than it seems— related to one of my workshops was brought to my attention a week ago. It's described in Michael Sandberg's blog. Please do read that post. I won't comment on it, at least for now.

Perhaps I'd just like to point out that you shouldn't rush to be judgmental or self-righteous. First, think about the guts you'd need to write an apology like that. Second, think of how necessary it is to have several conversations about ethics in visualization and infographics. And we could also remember this article by Andy Kirk.
