'Hello world' —in D3.js

I'm so proud. I've just created my first (ugly) chart in D3.js. It's a comparison of the percentage of students at elementary and middle schools in Miami-Dade who are able to read adequately. I'm working on a large interactive visualization and perhaps a story about these data and many other variables that I have collected in the past few weeks, but I got so excited to see code magic happening that I couldn't resist to share this insignificant victory. I've been using the learning resources that I recommended at the beginning of February.

Now, let me go share some tears of joy with my kids. They won't understand why daddy's so happy. He's just remembering his year as a coder.
